Santa Maria di Leuca is the lowest est end of the Italian peninsula, and at the end of the town there is the Church of Santa Maria De Finibus Terrae
That place faces both the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea.
The Salento is a part of the region Apulia, in the extreme south East of Italy.
It is extremely interesting especially from a archeological and sociological point of view: this region, in fact, used to belong to Greece (it was a part of the so called “Magna Grecia”), so the architectural structure of the houses and monuments resemble the Grecian ones.
Moreover, the natives of the lowest areas of Salento speak a dialect that is a mixture of the Apulian one and of Ancient Greek. Quite cool, isn’t it?
She was boarn in Trapani, Sicily, while Daniele was born in Salento.
They met at work: He’s a cardiologist while she’s a nurse.
Daniele got ready at his parents’ home in Santa Maria di Leuca, helped by his mother.
Desireè and her family booked a rental home for the wedding weekend, and got ready there.
The grom reached the Church first, and there waited for his bride; Desireè entered the wedding hall hand in hand with her brother.
The Church of Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae derives from an ancient Roman temple dedicated to the cult of the Goddess Minerva, and was rebuilt and restored various times through the Centuries;
It is one of the few Churches in Italy that dervies directly from the dawn of Christianity.
After the Catholic Wedding, we had a couple shooting in Punta Ristola, not far from the Church: a green cliff facing the sea!.
The reception took place at Montirò Ricevimenti, a wonderful restaurant completely surrounded by the green olive trees, typical of Apulia.
Congratulations to this beautiful couple!
